ELIGIBILITY. who qualifies?
• 13-15 year old youth in the custody of Orange County Department of Social Services (OCDSS) through their 22 birthday.
• Placement no higher than Level I or II in Orange County.
• Enough mental "horsepower" to handle challenges that are part of the program. Enough self control to be able express frustration appropriately and safely and be able to relate to others and "cousins" within the Second Family.
• Foster/Kinship placement must agree to adhere to all Second Family policies and procedures as agreed upon on the Second Family Consent and Agreement before the youth is asked to join.
• Youth agrees to adhere to all Second Family policies and procedures as agreed upon on the Second Family Case Plan Agreement.
REFERRALS. get involved.
• OCDSS completes written referral form.
• File Review
• Group meetings to discuss compliance from all foster/birth/kinship, SW, GAL, etc.
• Interview with the youth and Second Family.
