ELIGIBILITY. who qualifies?
• 12-14 year old youth in foster care through their 22 birthday.
• Placement no higher than Level II and within 50-mile radius of Chapel Hill, NC.
• Enough mental "horsepower" to handle challenges that are part of the program. Enough self control to be able express frustration appropriately and safely and be able to relate to others and "cousins" within the Second Family.
• Youth must possess enough "heart" that holds the desire to work on continously on their self-development.
• Placement provider must agree to adhere to all Second Family policies and procedures
• Youth agrees to adhere to all Second Family Ways of Life - Code of Ethics.
REFERRALS. get involved.
• Social Workers submit a youth referral form, file review & discuss.
• Group staffing with appropriate placement providers, SW, GAL, etc.
• Interview with the youth and Second Family.
